Back in the 80’s, many people around the world did not know much about this peaceful nation however two international events changed this scenario: Nobel Peace Prize won by former president Oscar Arias Sánchez and the first World Cup participation hosted by Italy in 1990 where our amateur squad surprisingly beat two powerful European teams and made it to second round.

Amazing! Isn’t it? The word «Costa Rica» got strong all over the world, as a result of that; tourists felt so interested in getting more facts and insights about it. What did they find out?

Well, there have been several ambassadors for Costa Rica who did something very relevant in other countries and somehow spread the word positively. Our swimmer Claudia Poll won our first olympic Gold Medal in Atlanta 96. Our former NASA astronaut Frankling Chang Diaz has been holding a record of seven space walks. We plead soccer in Costa Rica, well, it turns out that Real Madrid’s goalkeeper; Keylor Navas, is one of our prides as well.
